Policing ….And the Indian State….

What is it that make’s the uniform wearing Policeman in India turn into a heartless monster. Whether in subjugating the meek and the political opposition under influence and orders of the ruling party….

Or looking the other way when you have the riots happening… as in Gujrat…Orissa…in fact…Delhi…Everywhere….Or directly suppressing legitimate protests as in Nandigram and other places…Easily forgetting morals and character..

Arresting and harassing married couples as in Delhi citing “Indecency in a Public Show of Affection” …..Laughable…

Molesting and Raping Women as in Bombay…Marine lines outpost…..

The Beating up of a Seven Year old mercilessly….Yesterday..

Makes you wonder since are they not human too…don’t they have normal families, relations, ties, children, parents?

Are they not as affected as we are if something similar were to happen with their people?

Is it that the power they feel they have as men in uniform makes them cruel…and forget the fact that they are the Society’s first to ensure a free and fair life for the citizens…

Is it that they are Underpaid..Less Educated at the lower levels…don’t get our Appreciation for their everyday toil and work?

Do they get insulated from emotions, feelings and fairness due to the amount of crime, the dirt of society and unrepentant political masters and seniors in their ranks…

Do they feel that they are part of a system that condones such behavior…and that they can always get away with anything….

Is it that they feel it is only cases that get highlighted by the media or individuals are to be taken care of…the rest conveniently ignored and swept away…in Fact for every case that is published or highlighted….there are hundreds that take place away from the common knowledge….

Or is it the uniform that makes them behave in this manner? A subject for the scientists no doubt…as in Hitler’s SS, Mau Thugs, Stalin Goons, Programs against the Jews in majority of Europe, Russia and other places beginning from Jerusalem…

Or is it We the People who accept this and are a part of this system?
